Prepare to be wowed. This shop screams with cooking with creativity. From its enormous variety of spices, teas, dried fruits, oils and fragrances to its affordability at wholesale prices, it is certainly a chef's paradise. You can get 4 different kinds of paprika starting at about $5 per pound. Or try 12 kinds of salt, ranging from $2 a pound for extra course sea salt to $10 per half pound for Maldon Sea salt. Whether you are a chef or not, you'll love coming here. It really does ignite the cooking flame inside all of us. |

Birdwatcher's General Store, Orleans

birdwatchergeneralstore.com
A shop with a whimsical feel which just happens to have everything relating to birds. And I mean everything! From postcards, to nightlights, to shirts (my favorite is the "Loonatic" shirt), to books and birding guides. The only thing they lack is the birds themselves. But I'm sure if you ask one of the helpful employees, they could tell you where you could find a particular bird. But the very best parts of the store (in my opinion) are the subtle jokes that you find by simply exploring it. A prime example would be the door sign as you walk on in. You can witness some of these jokes simply by going on their website. The link is to your right. But the best way is to venture a trip inside their shop in Orleans. Enjoy!

PB Boulangerie Bistro, Wellfleet
Credit: frenchieandtheyankee.com
PB is a real treat to the residents and visitors of Cape Cod. French born Chef Phillippe Rispoli and Baker Boris Villate create beautiful and delectable masterpieces! Many visitors come for the bakery which offers the finest in French crossaints and breads such as the pain aux formage et lardon, (cheese &/or bacon breads)! Lets not forget the desserts like the eclaire, creme brulee and my favorite the Mousse au chocolat! Or come for dinner at the quaint European style bistro. The main course may be pricy (starting at $25) but the entree is mouthwatering!
Weekends can be very crowded and parking is limited to a small, narrow lot. The best times to go are on Wednesday and Thursday or before 10am. *Pronunciation: Boulangerie (boo-lanzhuh-ree)= bakery |

If you can resist the temptations on the trip home, the 5 piece box or 3 piece triangular sets can make an excellent gift for someone special. If not, you can always hire him to cater your next party. Did I mention he does catering? Well he does and the food is oh so...YUM! Eastham Painter's Guild, Eastham
Credit: Meg Schmidt, Eastham Painter's Guild
If you are looking to get a tan while going shopping, come to the lawn besides the School House Museum and across from the Cape Cod National Seashore: Salt Pond Visitor's Center. Here you will find the Eastham Painter's Guild set up under white tents exhibiting their beautiful artistic collections. With over 15 local artists, the guild showcases excellent Cape scenes such as the Cape's sand dunes among dark blue seas, faint lighthouses lost in the fog and weather beaten shingled cottages. The mediums depend on the artist, but generally fall under watercolor, oil or a mixture of the two. Come here for a different kind of Cape shopping, where friendly and chatty locals will express their love for the land and art and may even teach you a thing or two about how to paint yourselves.
